Cole Glover closed out his distinguished cross country career with a 13th-place finish at the state meet on Saturday in Lexington.

The University Heights Academy senior brought home 13th place, covering the 3.1-mile course at the Kentucky Horse Park in 17:08. His time was his third-fastest of the year and 21 seconds better than his third-place run at region last year.

Glover didn’t compete at state last year while he was attending the Gatton Academy of Science and Math in Bowling Green although he was allowed to run four races while not representing the Blazers.

As a sophomore, Glover was 42nd state. He was 50th as a freshman.

Meanwhile, Jude Finch made his fourth state meet appearance and finished in 83rd place with a run of 19:12. He took nearly two minutes off his time run on the same course last year.

Five other Blazers were making their state meet debut.

Seventh grader Ronan Croney-Sallie ran a 19:10 to finish in 81st place. His time was the second fastest for a middle schooler in the meet and the fastest among seventh graders.

Eighth-grader Graham Conrad finished in 94th place in 19:25. He was the fifth-fastest middle schooler in the race.

Zech Davis ran a 20:45 and came in 164th place. Garret Bowling was 187th in 21:34, and seventh grader Scar Venable was 202nd in 22:16.

As a team, UHA finished just outside the top 10 in 11th place, 45 points behind 10th place Murray.
