
A night of firsts coming up Monday for the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors. Monday marks the first trip for the Lady Warriors to the state volleyball tournament, their first state tournament match in their gym, and their first-ever meeting with the Bowling Green Lady Purples.
Heritage Christian and Bowling Green meet Monday night at 7pm in the first round of the 2024 state volleyball tournament. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals Friday night where they will take on the winner of the match between Mercy and North Oldham.
Bowling Green enters the week with a record of 33-6. The Lady Purples lost only one match in 4th Region play this season, that being a 3-2 loss to Greenwood back in August. Bowling Green has lost only one set in postseason play and that was to South Warren in the 14th District championship match. They rolled through the 4th Region tournament winning nine sets and losing none.
The Lady Purples are led at the net by Amirra Bailey, who has 560 kills and 92 blocks on the season.
JoEllen Marshall is the setter for Bowling Green and has 925 assists. She also has 136 digs.
Claire Lawless leads the Lady Purples at the service line with 91 aces. She also has 288 digs and 84 assists.
Heritage Christian is led by Mya Goodwin, who enters the tournament with 385 kills. Katie Canser has 198.
The Lady Warriors have two players adept at setting the table. Makenzie McCarty has 397 assists and Hadlee Hayes has added 284.
At the service line, Mya Goodwin has been the top server for HCA with 88 aces.
HCA has won 11 straight matches and lost only three sets during that run.
