Eli Baker has known his college plans for some time.
The Lyon County senior announced that he had committed to Radford University back in February — before his junior senior with the Lyons even began.
Baker has made his choice official with Wednesday’s signing ceremony at Jason White Gymnasium in Eddyville.
Baker and four teammates held a joint ceremony. John Bingham signed with Mississippi State, Peyton Williams with Western Kentucky, Austin Spears with Northeast Mississippi and Korben Lucas with Frontier.
After committing to Radford, Baker went on to have a stellar junior season that culminated with a 2nd Region Player of the Year Award and selection to the Kentucky Baseball Coaches Association All-State First Team.
Baker compiled a 6-2 record on the mound with a 1.27 earned run average in 2024. He struck out 73 in 55.1 innings.
Baker was also a big threat at the plate, hitting .337 with 18 extra-base hits, including two home runs. He drove in 17 runs and stole 15 bases in 16 attempts.
Baker helped the Lyons go 22-7 while also earning an All A Classic state runner-up finish.
The Lyon season included a 15-game winning streak and a fifth-straight 5th District championship.
Baker tossed a no-hitter and struck out 11 in the district finals.
Radford is an NCAA institution located in Virginia. The Highlanders compete in the Big South Conference.
