Skylar Kirby is one of 4 Lady Colonels selected for All-Star event.

Four members of the Christian County Lady Colonels volleyball team have been selected to participate in a statewide all-star event at the end of the month. According to Christian County volleyball coach Samantha Self, Shiloh Baker, Kaidence Atwell, Ashlea Russell, and Skylar Kirby have been selected to play in the Kentucky All-Star games.

Baker, Atwell, and Russell are juniors and will return for the Lady Colonels in the 2025 season. Kirby is a senior at Christian County.

Kirby led the teams in kills during the just-completed season. Russell was tops on the team in assists. Atwell was second in kills and led the team in blocks. Baker was at the top of the team stat list for digs.

The coach states the event will take place at Louisville Seneca on December 7th. Self adds that it will showcase juniors and seniors from across the Commonwealth and will have numerous college coaches in attendance.

Kenny Norris, who coordinates the event, says this is the 4th year of Seneca High School putting the event together, which is approved by both the KHSAA and the NCAA. Norris noted that he started it because ‘it seemed that every sport but girls’ volleyball had some sort of All-Star game and the girls were left out.”

He adds “We wanted to put together a showcase for these girls to give them a positive way to end the season and possibly pick up scholarships. Many girls will walk away with offers this day.”

He adds that they invite nearly every college coach at schools in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio, and Tennessee among others.

Players are nominated by their high school coaches and are accepted through a selection committee. This year there were nearly 200 players nominated and the committee selected about 125. Each player will play in 3 games, no matter the outcome of the first 2.

Matches start at 9:00, 10:30, 12:00, 1:30, 3:00, and 4:30 on December 7 at Seneca High School, 3510 Goldsmith Lane in Louisville.
