
The Hopkinsville girls’ swim team opened the 2024 season by hosting the annual Rick Cohn Invitational in the aquatic center that bears the name of the late Hopkinsville coach.
Hoptown finished in eighth place with four points.
Saralynn Major was 10th in the 50-yard free (30.67) and 11th in the 100-yard free (1:08.78)
Kaley Bangart was 13th in the 100-yard free (1:09.88) and 19th in the 50-yard free (34.36)
Kaydon Coats was 14th in the 50-yard free (33.14) and 15th in the 100-yard free (1:14.87)
Evelyn Bangart was 16th in the 100-yard free (1:16.46) and 17th in the 50-yard free (34.17);
Madelin Macario was 16th in the 100-yard backstroke (1:48.48) and 24th in the 50-yard free (36.64)
Payton Trapp was 30th in the 100-yard free (1:30.83) and 32nd in the 50-yard free (39.89)
The 200-yard free relay team was fifth in 2:12.49. A second relay team was 11th in 2:45.80.
The 400-yard free relay team was seventh in 4:56.49. A second relay team was 11th in 6:32.69.
Muhlenberg County took the team title with 72 points, eight more than second-place Madisonville-North Hopkins.
