The Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons were in Murray Saturday at the CFSB Center for preseason basketball in an event hosted by Calloway County. The Maroons’ first game of the day saw them take on the McCracken County Mustangs.
After the Maroons scored the first four points of the scrimmage, McCracken came back to take a 12-8 lead after the first quarter. The Mustangs’ lead would be 22-17 at the half.
McCracken was able to get a little distance in the third quarter, extending the lead to 38-27. The Mustangs would turn back a late charge from the Maroons to take a 53-44 win.
Madisonville got big efforts from Landen Smith and Davin Cheirs to lead the way in the contest.
