Madisonville-North Hopkins hosted the third annual Rise Up Know Her Name Pan-O-Rama on Saturday featuring 10 teams and five preseason games.
But the Lady Maroons suffered a 72-48 setback to Louisville Butler in their game in the event.
The Bearettes built a 29-21 halftime advantage, then blew the game open in the third period, taking a 56-32 margin to the fourth quarter.
One unique aspect of the Pan-O-Rama is that all games are played with an Elam Ending. Under that format, teams finish the contest playing to a target score. At the first dead ball under 3:00 to play, the target score is set at seven points above the leading team’s current point total. The clock is then turned off, and the game continues until one team reaches the target score.
Amaya Civils had 26 points and Keziah Renee scored 20 to lead Butler. Faith Mosley added 11. Liz Mason had nine and Makayla alexander six.
For Madisonville, Bryanne Johnson had 18 points while SaNya Carney added 12. Riley Sword scored nine, Macy Wright five and Taylor Nelson and Bailey Bryant each had two points.
The regular season for high school basketball teams around the commonwealth begins the first week of December.
