
The Hopkinsville Tigers now set their sights on the official start of the basketball season following a home scrimmage Thursday night against Owensboro. The Red Devils outscored the Tigers in three of the four varsity quarters on their way to an 87-67 scrimmage win in Tiger Gym.
Owensboro outscored Hopkinsville just 16-15 in the opening quarter. The big quarter for the Red Devils came in the second when they outscored the Tigers 30-14.
The two teams ended up scoring 19 points each in the third. Owensboro then outscored Hopkinsville 22-19 in the fourth quarter of play.
Hopkinsville was led by Layton Giltner, who finished the game with 18 points, all coming after the first quarter. James Bradley Jr. added 17 points. Jonovan Leavell also hit double figures with 16 points.
The Tigers will officially get the season started December 2 on the road at Ohio County.
