Her final regular-season home match was Sunday at Memorial Coliseum and it should be memorable for a long time for senior setter Emma Grome.

It was Kentucky’s Senior Day. Kentucky swept Arkansas to clinch at least a share of its eighth straight Southeastern Conference championship, including the last four with Grome starting every match.

If that wasn’t enough, on Monday Grome was named the SEC Setter of the Week for the 20th time in her career as well as the overall SEC Player of the Week.

Grome averaged 10.83 assists for UK last week with 65 assists, 17 digs and six blocks in Kentucky’s two wins.

Grome had 28 assists and 10 digs along with a service ace against Arkansas.

Kentucky is 13-2 in SEC play going into Wednesday’s night match at Missouri at 8 on SEC Network+. Florida and Texas are both 11-3 but if the Cats beat Missouri they own the outright title and if they fall, they still share the conference championship again.

“I feel really good honestly. I mean, I think we’re peaking at the right time,” Grome said after Sunday’s match. “Our offense is coming along really nicely, and our defense and blocking just keeps getting better and better every day.

“I think we’re right where we want to be. So it’s just going to come down to we’re about to play some really tough teams in the (NCAA)  tournament. How long can we sustain our same level of play and how much grit and fight can we have? And I think we can make a big run.”
