The Owensboro Red Devils used a big first half to get to the lead and then held off a second half rally from Madisonville-North Hopkins to take a 75-68 win Saturday in Madisonville. The contest was the final preseason scrimmage for both teams.
Owensboro put 50 points on the board in the first half as the Red Devils got out to the big lead. The Maroons would get within single digits in the second half but could not get to the lead.
The Maroons were led by Landen Smith, who hit for 22 points. Kanyon Johnson added 15.
Madisonville-North Hopkins will officially open the season Tuesday evening when the Maroons go on the road to take on University Heights Academy.
