Kentucky basketball continues to plow forward as their explosive offense led the way to another win by beating Georgia State, 105-76.
Similar to Tuesday’s game against Western Kentucky, the Wildcats were given Georgia State’s best effort on Friday night.
Mark Pope’s team responded well, though, staying ahead and eventually pulling away in the second half.
As Kentucky’s non-conference schedule winds down, the No. 8 Wildcats travel to Clemson on Tuesday for the ACC-SEC challenge.
Tip-off is scheduled for 9:30 PM ET with coverage on ESPN.

Popcorn State games are hard to play, especially when you don’t perceive them to be a meaningful opponent. Letting Georgia State shot 50% on 22 three point shots while we shot 27% on only 26 attempts kept the game closer than it actually was. Sure we shot almost 80% on 2s, but that will need to be addressed before taking the floor against Clemson in a short turnaround. Clemson, Gonzaga, Louisville, and Ohio State will be fired up to play us, especially Lousyville. Did playing so many cupcake games get us ready for real competition or give us a feeling of invincibility? These 4 games will tell us if we will roll through the SEC or still have work to do. Pope is so positive in his post game comments, but now he has something to talk about with this team. We need to trust our ability to make 3s and trust each other’s ability to do so and get our attempts back up to 35 or more. If we had taken 9 more 3s, we probably would have seen 13 total makes which would have been a 37% made rate. 40 attempts would have resulted in 16 makes for a 40% made rate. Yeah, we passed up a lot of open shots from the arc. This team has shooters. Even if we miss the first 10, we will make the last 10 and a third of the 20 in between. That means more passing and less dribbling. Our defense will be better against a better team because we will take them more seriously. Go CATS!!!
