Crittenden County’s girls used a hot start to grab the upper hand at Caldwell County on Monday and went on to claim a 66-41 season-opening victory at the CAB gym.
A 12-0 run was part of a 17-4 spree to start the contest.
Caldwell led 2-0 following two Morgan Aikins free throws, but it took the Lady Tigers almost 4 minutes to record their first field goal. That allowed the Lady Rockets to open up a double-digit margin on the way to a 19-6 lead after one quarter.
Crittenden went on to lead 34-17 at halftime and 53-31 through three quarters.
Bristyn Rushing scored 12 of her team-high 19 points in the second half to help the Lady Rockets put the game away.
Morgan Stewart added 12 points for Crittenden while Elliot Evans and Andrea Federico each scored 11.
Brylee Butts was the only Lady Tiger to score in double figures with 19. Morgan Aikins was next with seven. Tink Clark and A.J. McCoy each had six.
The Lady Rockets have won six straight from the Lady Tigers and eight of the last nine. Caldwell still leads the all-time series 78-31.
Caldwell’s girls will hit the road for the first time on Thursday when they travel to the 3rd Region to take on McLean County.
Next up for Crittenden is a matchup against Todd County Central from the 4th Region Wednesday night at the Marshall County Hoopfest.
