
The Hopkinsville girls’ basketball team got off to a winning start to the season on Tuesday, racing out to a double-digit first-quarter lead and cruising to a 61-34 victory over visiting Warren Central.
Alicia Davis led the way with nine early points to help the Lady Tigers to a 20-6 advantage.
Lashanti Wilson had the hot hand for Hoptown in the second quarter with eight points to send the Lady Tigers into the locker room with a 36-20 cushion.
Wilson and Davis combined for 12 points in the third, and the Lady Tiger defense held Warren Central to only 14 second-half points.
Davis led all scorers with 20, followed by Wilson with 13. Laelah Watkins finished with 11, and Lee Lee Love just missed a double-double with eight points and ten rebounds.
The Lady Tigers will be back on their home floor on Thursday for a visit from Madisonville-North Hopkins.
