Sisters Miyah and Maliah Courtney combined to score 52 points as the Elizabethtown Lady Panthers picked up an 86-62 homecourt win over the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm in the opening game of the season for both teams. E-town used big quarters in the middle part of the game to take control of the contest.
Hopkins County Central, behind good starts from Addie Menser and Tyah White, held a 23-21 lead after the opening quarter.
The Lady Panther defense limited the Lady Storm to just 11 points in the second quarter as they took a 46-34 lead into the break.
E-town kept the momentum from the second quarter going into the second half. The Lady Panthers outscored Hopkins County Central 23-17 in the third quarter to extend the lead out to 69-51 heading into the final eight minutes.
The two teams played an even fourth quarter as the Lady Panthers took the 86-68 win.
Hopkins County Central was led by Tyah White with 24 points. Addie Menser also had a good night for the Lady Storm, finishing with 16 points. Kenzleigh Harrison scored 9 points.
Hopkins County Central (0-1) will be back in action Saturday when the play Breckinridge County at the Owensboro Sportscenter in the Independence Bank Tip-Off Classic.
