Marshals Run Past Colonels in Season Opener

Defending 1st Region champion Marshall County got its 2024-25 season off to a great start Tuesday night.

A 10-0 run early gave the Marshals the upper hand, and Marshall went on to claim a 65-30 victory at Christian County.

The Colonels led only at 2-0 early before Marshall’s run put it in front for good.

That was part of a 22-5 opening for the Marshals, who built a 39-14 lead by halftime.

It was 57-24 through three quarters.

Marshall hit the mercy rule at 63-28 midway through the fourth quarter.

Kyzer Phillips and Tommy Robertson each had 16 points for Marshall while Alex Staples added 14.

Christian, which had two senior starters out with injuries, got 10 points from Rahsean Stevenson.

The Colonels will be back in action again on Thursday when they face defending state champion Lyon County in action at the CFSB Center in Murray.

Marshall next faces Massac County (Illinois) Thursday at the Hoopfest in Draffenville.
