Last season, the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors fought the numbers issue all season long. The good news for second-year head coach Josh Bridges is that the numbers are a bit better coming into this season, but there are a bunch of new, young, especially young, faces on the floor for the Lady Warriors.
One face originally expected to be back this year was HCA’s leading scorer from last season. However, over the summer, Kate St. Martin transferred from Heritage Christian to Clarksville Christian, so the Lady Warriors have some big offensive shoes to fill.
Look for Lexi Lyon to provide some leadership for this extremely young basketball team. The junior played in just 13 games last season for HCA but was a part of the regional championship volleyball team this season which should give her some valuable opportunities to serve as a leader for a roster where she is the only junior and the rest of the team is freshman year or younger.
Coach Josh Bridges had praises for the way his team has worked over the summer and now hopes that the time on the court will help them see more growth over the course of the season. This team will take its lumps over the course of the season, but the hope is that by the end of the year, the Lady Warriors will have gained some valuable experience, not just for this year, but for going forward and continuing to work to build the program.
He adds that he is looking for Lexi Lyon, along with 8th graders Kynlee Henderson and Lauren Loftus, to be players that contribute for Heritage Christian.
Player Under the Radar – Coach Josh Bridges says 8th grader Ava DeJager made good progress through the summer and has the potential to be an impact player for the Lady Warriors on both ends of the court.
Big Games – When you are looking to build up a program almost every game is a ‘big’ game of sorts. Some good ‘measuring stick’ games for the Lady Warriors will be the games against Dawson Springs, Fort Campbell, and Christian Fellowship.
Outlook – Coming off the low number of players last season and the loss of the team’s leading scorer, this is a building process for the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors. Coach Josh Bridges says his definition of a successful season in 2024-2025 would be to see the team grow over the course of the season and find some sort of rhythm on the court. For Heritage fans, patience will be the order of the day for this group with so many inexperienced players on the roster.
