The Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons did not need a late-game rally this time out. Three nights after they had to pull off a big 4th quarter rally to get past Union County at the wire, the Lady Maroons jumped out to a big early lead and then rolled on to a 70-49 road win over the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.

Bryanne Johnson and SaNya Carney came out firing for the Lady Maroons. The pair combined for 12 first quarter points as Madisonville-North Hopkins took an 18-10 lead after the first eight minutes. The Lady Maroons limited the Lady Tigers to just four made field goals in the quarter.

The Madisonville defense clamped down even tighter in the second quarter, holding Hopkinsville to three field goals as the Lady Maroons pulled out to a 38-17 lead. Sophomore Taylor Nelson outscored the Lady Tigers on her own with 8 points in the second quarter.

The two teams played closer to even in the second half, but the Lady Tigers at that point were not in a position where even did them much good. By the end of the third quarter, the Lady Maroons’ lead was out to 55-29.

Led by the efforts of TaRia Sharber and Alicia Davis, Hopkinsville outscored the Lady Maroons 20 to 15 over the final 8 minutes but that was not enough to overcome the first three quarters as the Lady Maroons got the win.

Madisonville was led by Bryanne Johnson with 18 points. SaNya Carney finished with 14. Riley Sword also hit double figures with 11.

For Hopkinsville, Alicia Davis was one of three players in double digits with 15. TaRia Sharber added 13 points. Lashanti Wilson finished the night with 11 points.

Madisonville-North Hopkins (2-0) will be back on the court Saturday morning against Marshall County at the Marshall County Hoopfest.

Hopkinsville (1-1) takes on Lyon County Friday night at the Grind Session at Calloway County High School.
