Lance Breckel picked the perfect time to score his only bucket of the game. His 3-pointer at the top of the key at the final horn gave Trigg County a 52-51 come-from-behind win over Todd County Central on Friday in Elkton.

The win was Trigg’s second straight win over the Rebels but their first win in Elkton in 11 years.

Trigg County trailed Todd 42-34 entering the fourth quarter but Caleb Fogle and Landon Swann keyed the comeback by combining for three 3-pointers in the frame. Davaree Gude scored four points in the final two minutes as the Wildcats tried to overcome the Rebels’ lead.

Devin Schutt hit 1-of-2 free throws with 25 seconds left to put the Rebels up 51-49. After a Trigg timeout with 14 seconds left, Slaton Carter drove into the paint and kicked it to Breckel. The Wildcat senior provided the walk-off win to move Trigg County to a 2-1 season record.

Gude finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds – his second straight double-digit night on the glass.

Fogle, who struggled from behind the arc in Trigg’s first two games, hit 4-of-5 three-pointers and scored 14 points. Swann added 14 points and four rebounds as the Wildcats hit seven 3-pointers and shot 44% from the field.

Antavion Shemwell led the Rebels with 11 points, and sophomore Jayden Glass came off the bench to score eight of his 10 points in the second quarter.

Todd Central outrebounded Trigg 33-29 and connected on eight 3-pointers – three by Shemwell.

Trigg County will host Crittenden County in the district opener for both teams on Tuesday.
