Colonels Fall at Kenwood for Third-Straight Loss

The Christian County boys’ basketball team slipped to 0-3 on the season after a 77-47 defeat at Kenwood, TN on Friday.

The Colonels paid for a slow start and trailed 14-5 after the first quarter before cutting into the deficit in the second frame behind seven points from Darren Bigbee.  Jakoby Cox and Jaylen Hill combined for 10 points for Kenwood to help the Knights to a 28-21 halftime advantage.

Kenwood tightened the defensive screws after the break and held the Colonels to only eight points in the third quarter.  Zy’Kerion Hinton poured in ten points for the Knights, Christian Taylor scored eight, and Marquise Anderson added five to outscore Christian County by 17 for a 53-29 lead with a quarter to play.

Bigbee capped a 13-point night for the Colonels with a pair of three-pointers in the fourth, but Jaylen Hill scored seven for the Knights to finish with a game-high 15 and help Kenwood to its first victory of the season.

Bigbee was the lone Colonel in double figures, followed by Zyon Wharton with nine points.  Christian County will travel to Madisonville-North Hopkins on Tuesday looking to put an end to an eight-game losing streak to the Maroons.
