The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers put an end to an early-season two-game losing skid Saturday afternoon. The Lady Tigers got big games from Lee Lee Love and Lashanti Wilson and picked up a 57-48 road win at Webster County.
The Hopkinsville defense, after giving up 70 points and 64 points in the two losses, locked down and held the Lady Trojans to less than 15 points in every quarter.
Led by Wilson and Love, Hopkinsville took a 16-11 lead after the first quarter. The teams played even in the second as the Lady Tigers took a 27-22 lead into the locker room at the break.
Hopkinsville got a big third quarter from Laelah Watkins and extended the lead out to 44-36 going into the final quarter. The Lady Tigers were then able to hold the Lady Trojans at bay over the last eight minutes to take the 9-point win.
Lee Lee Love and Lashanti Wilson had 16 points each to lead the way for Hopkinsville. Laelah Watkins, Alicia Davis, and Dominique Allensworth added six points each.
Hannah Yates led Webster County with 14 points. Jaycie Wright also reached double figures with 10 points.
Hopkinsville (2-2) is now off until Thursday when they take on Caldwell County in the Toyota Classic at Hopkinsville High School.
