Caldwell County High School is looking for a new boys’ soccer head coach.

Tanner Reed announced during the Caldwell soccer banquet Sunday in the CCHS cafeteria that he will not be returning next season.

Reed, a 2011 Marshall County graduate, has spent the last six seasons on the Tiger sideline.

However, Reed recently got married and moved to West Paducah. That commute made it difficult for him to continue his coaching duties. He does plan, though, to maintain his teaching position at Caldwell County Middle School.

Reed, who played college soccer at Mid-Continent and Campbellsville, had been an assistant coach for the Marshall County soccer teams before taking the Caldwell job.

His six-year record with the Tigers was 33-61-10, but his squads typically got better as the season progressed.

Last year’s team was evidence of that. The Tigers went just 4-12-2 but avenged a regular-season loss to Hopkins County Central by beating the Storm 4-2 in the 7th District tournament to earn a bid to the 2nd Region tourney.

Under Reed, Caldwell played in the regional championship match for the only time ever in 2021. The Tigers defeated Trigg County and University Heights in the 2nd Region tourney that season before falling to traditional power Henderson County in the finals.

Reed leaves some talented youngsters for the next head coach to build around at Caldwell.
