
Five Caldwell County wrestlers placed and the Lady Tigers finished fifth out of 20 teams in the Screaming Eagles Invitational Saturday at Ohio County.
Sophie Parrish was runner-up at 100 pounds. She pinned her first two opponents before being pinned in the championship match.
Aniyaree Wilson earned a third-place finish at 120. She went 3-1 on the day. Wilson dropped her second match but won in the consolation round to get back to the third-place mach. Wilson then won by pin in 38 seconds to finish third.
Jessie Jenkins won three of her five matches to place fourth at 132. Jenkins won her first two matches to get to the semifinals before suffering her first loss. Jenkins won by forfeit in the consolation round but was then pinned in the third-place match.
Lexi Gobin took fourth at 138 with a 4-2 showing. After dropping her first match, Gobin won four straight matches by pin to get to the third-place match before being pinned.
Virginia Stewart was fourth at 235. She was 4-2 on the day. After dropping her second match, she won three straight times in the consolation bracket to reach the third-place round, but was pinned in that match.
Also for Caldwell, Kamyra Dickey went 2-2 at 107 and Payten Simmons was 2-2 at 185.
The Lady Tigers totaled 112.5 points to finish just ahead of Union County for fifth.
Taylor County took the team title with 149.5 points while Montgomery Central was runner-up with 137.5. Henderson County placed third (123) while Fort Campbell (117) was fourth.
Caldwell’s girls will next compete in the Wildcat Duals at Marion, Illinois, this Saturday.
