A new school record highlighted the afternoon Monday for the Hopkins County Central swim teams as they competed in a meet at Muhlenberg County. Swimmers from Muhlenberg County, Hopkins County Central, Franklin-Simpson, and Butler County competed in the meet.
Storm swimmer Alex Ray, who set a goal of breaking the school record for the 100 yard butterfly this swim season, did just that Monday evening in his first meet of the season. Ray swam a time of 1:00.31 in setting the new record. The accomplishment so early in the season is more impressive considering the Storm swim team has not had a normal practice this year due to having to practice at the Days Inn due to construction at the Hopkins County YMCA.
Both teams finished in third place at the meet Monday.
Top two finishes for the Lady Storm were:
NyaJade Ribay – 2nd place – Girls 200 Yard Free
Girls 200 Yard Free Relay – 2nd place (Emma Frazier, Reese Richey, Isabella Gunn, NyaJade Ribay)
Top two finishes for the Storm were:
Alex Ray – 1st place – Boys 100 Yard Fly
Alex Ray – 1st place – Boys 100 Yard Breast
