Playing without their three leading scorers on Tuesday at Murray High, the University Heights Academy Blazers couldn’t keep pace with hosts Murray High in a 70-51 defeat.
Harris Moore hit the ground running for the Tigers with nine first-quarter points to overcome six from UHA’s Jaden Daniels and give Murray an early eight-point advantage.
Jeremiah Jones and Wyatt Robbins combined for nine in the second quarter to help Murray extend the lead to 38-24 at halftime.
Moore capped a game-high 23-point effort with 12 of the Tigers’ 19 points in the third. Trailing by 26 to start the fourth quarter, UHA’s Ryan Luckey caught fire with three three-pointers, and 8th-grader Nash McAfee connected on a pair from behind the arc to finish with nine points.
Luckey led the Blazers with 14 points followed by Daniels with 10. Wyatt Robbins joined Moore in double figures with 12 for the Tigers.
UHA slipped to 0-3 ahead of a matchup with Owensboro on Saturday at the Holiday Classic at Hopkinsville High School.
