An early 3-point barrage did the damage against the Fort Campbell Falcons Thursday night. Whitesville Trinity drilled six three-pointers in the first quarter putting the Falcons in an early hole they could not come back from as the Raiders took a 77-69 win on post.
Behind the early attack, Trinity took a 22-11 lead after the opening quarter. The Fort Campbell defense slowed down the Raiders from behind the arc, holding them to just three 3-pointers the rest of the night, but the damage had been done.
The Falcons behind Tyreek Anthony and Israel Dillard pulled back to within 40-32 at the half. Anthony and Dillard combined to score 15 of Fort Campbell’s 21 points in the quarter.
The Raiders stemmed the tide of the Falcon comeback in the 3rd quarter and pushed the lead back out to 58-46 heading into the last eight minutes of the game.
The Falcons put up 21 points in the final quarter but could not make a charge at the Raiders, who held on for the 8-point win.
Fort Campbell got another big night from Tyreek Anthony, who finished with 26 points. J.P. Perryman and Israel Dillard added 14 points each.
The Raiders were led by Ian Roby, who finished with 20 points and hit four of the first quarter three-pointers. Conner Hatfield added 19 points. Branson Howard knocked down two first quarter threes and had 15 points for the night.
Fort Campbell (1-4) will begin 8th District play Thursday night hosting University Heights Academy.
