Henderson County Overwhelms Dawson Springs in Saturday Hoops Action

Henderson County’s offense got going early and kept rolling in a Saturday win over Dawson Springs. The Panthers were held to just six first quarter points as the Colonels charged their way to a 63-36 win in Henderson.

The Colonels jumped out to a 20-6 lead after one and pushed that lead on out to 44-17 at the half.

Henderson’s Cooper Davenport was on fire over the first 16 minutes, knocking down five 3-pointers.

Things did not get much better for the Panthers as the third quarter got started. The Henderson defense limited Dawson Springs to a single 3-pointer in the third as the lead ballooned out to 61-20 heading into the final quarter.

The Panthers limited Henderson reserves to just two points in the fourth, which was played under the running clock as the Panthers had their best offensive quarter of the day, putting 16 points on the board.

Dawson Springs was led by Jaydon Plunkette and Rex Blue with 11 points each. Deacon Dever and Montgomery Johnston added 6 points each.

Henderson’s Cooper Davenport was the game’s leading scorer with 18 points, 15 coming in the first half. Elijah Suggs added 9 for the Colonels.

Dawson Springs (1-3) opens 7th District play Tuesday on the road at Hopkins County Central.
