Reeling from a three-game losing streak, the Hopkinsville Tigers shot better than 50% from behind the arc on Tuesday to knock off visiting Webster County 74-57.

Hoptown’s Jonathan Hart led the long-range attack, beginning with a pair of three-pointers and nine points in the first quarter to help the Tigers build a 17-9 advantage.

With Webster County also entering the night on the back of three losses, the Trojans battled back behind seven points each from Evan Davis and Micah Austin to trim the Tigers’ lead to six points at halftime.

Two more threes from Hart and nine points from Deavery Ramey helped Hopkinsville extend the margin to double digits in the third.  Austin and Davis combined for nine in the frame for the Trojans, but the Tigers were in control 56-40 with a quarter to play.

Hart connected on two more three-pointers in the fourth to finish 6/10 from deep with a game-high 23 points.  Jonovan Leavell added 14 for the Tigers, Ramey had 12, and James Bradley also reached double figures with ten.  Layton Giltner just missed a double-double with eight points and 10 rebounds.

Hopkinsville improved to 2-4 ahead of a trip to Madisonville-North Hopkins on Thursday.  The Maroons have won the last two meetings and three of the last five against the Tigers.
