University Heights Academy’s win at Fort Campbell was a two-fer for the Blazers.
Not only was it the first win of the season for the Blazers but it was also a district victory.
Tylin George scored 34 points – his third 30-plus scoring game as the Blazers built an early 21-9 lead and coasted into halftime with a 40-20 advantage.
George scored 12 of his 18 first half points in the second quarter. He finished with 15 field goals – 14 twos and a three – and was 3-of-3 at the line. George also rocked the rim five times with dunks. His 34 points were one off his season-high set twice earlier this season.
Tyreek Anthony did his part to keep the Falcons in the game for the most part, scoring 18 of Fort Campbell’s first half points.
UHA pulled away in the third quarter as George scored 11 points, and Elijah Walton scored 10 of his 26 points as the Blazers built a 67-35 lead. Walton hit two of UHA’s five 3-pointers, helping the Blazers shoot 10-of-15 from the floor in the period.
Frank Pollard, Tra Bell, and Ryan Luckey each scored five points for the Blazers, who shot 52 percent from the field and outrebounded Fort Campbell 41-32.
Anthony finished with 21 points and eight rebounds, and Israel Dillard added 11 points and eight boards for the Falcons, who were playing without a starter.
The win was UHA’s 29th straight over the Falcons dating back to 2009.
