
Caldwell County’s girls got off to a solid start Friday night at Mayfield, trailing just 18-16 after one quarter.
But the Lady Tigers failed to score in the second period as Mayfield opened up a 32-16 lead at halftime.
The Lady Cardinals went on to capture a 58-40 victory.
Lay Mayes poured in 30 points to lead Mayfield, which is now 6-1.
Caldwell (3-4) got 18 points, five rebounds, five steals and three assists from Tink Clark and eight points from KeDarriah Thompson.
Mayfield has won three straight from Caldwell. The Lady Cardinals lead the all-time series 6-2.
Caldwell’s girls will next play in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic after Christmas.
The Lady Tigers will face South Panola, Mississippi, next Friday, Dec. 27, at 2 p.m. Caldwell’s girls then play Carlisle County at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 28.
