In more ways than one, Carson Powell has designs on his future after high school.
The Heritage Christian Academy senior discovered a love for golf, which led to a job at the pro shop at the Hopkinsville Golf and Country Club.
On the course, Carson won a Kentucky Christian Athletic Association state golf title in the school’s final season of competing in the association before making the jump to the KHSAA.
He has twice competed at the All A Classic region golf tournament as well as the Region 2 golf tournament and holds the school record for the lowest score.
However, it’s the business side of golfing that has piqued his interest in the past couple of years.

Carson attended the Governor’s School of Entrepreneurs and while his business project did not involve golf, it did continue to stoke an interest in business he’s possessed for a while.
“I’ve always wanted to start my own business and be the leader of things,” he said.
It’s that interest in business that has Carson looking to study professional golf management at Eastern Kentucky University and earn a business degree. At some point, Carson would like to be involved in golf course design and management.
Aside from golf, Carson is a member of the Spanish Club at HCA in addition to being a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club while pulling down straight As.
Earlier in the year, Carson and the HCA Spanish Club went to Puerto Rico.
“We did missions there and helped out at an orphanage. It really showed me how fortunate we are here,” he said. “You just never know what people are going through and you should find a way to cope with their feelings.”
