A strong finish to the first half and a strong start to the second half was the difference in the game Saturday for the Livingston Central Cardinals. In just over 5 ½ minutes in the middle of the game, Livingston Central transformed a one-point deficit into a 20-point lead as the Cardinals rolled past Heritage Christian Academy 82-61 in the St. Mary Christmas Classic.

The Warriors were leading 24-23 with 4:30 to go in the first half. Livingston Central closed the half on a 15-3 run to take a 38-27 lead into the break.

The Cardinals then opened the third quarter with a 13-3 spurt to run the lead out to 51-30. The lead would be 61-44 after the third.

HCA would close to within 13 points inside the final three minutes but that would be as close as the Warriors could get.

Another big game for Jason Leek. The HCA senior finished with 37 points and 13 rebounds. Samuel Thompson added 6 points for Heritage Christian.

Livingston Central got a season-high 39 points from Bryson Walker, who was named the game’s MVP for his efforts.

Heritage Christian falls to 1-7 with the loss.
