Hopkinsville Holds Off Westview Rally for 71-67 Win

The Hopkinsville Tigers built an early lead and then held off a 4th quarter rally to take a 71-67 win over Westview Saturday in The Hardwood Classic at Calloway County High School. The win is the second in the last three games for the Tigers.

James Bradley Jr. got the Tigers going in the first quarter as Hopkinsville took a 22-11 lead. Bradley scored 10 points in the quarter.

The Tiger offense kept rolling in the second, pushing the lead out to 43-26 at the half. Jonathan Hart gave the Tigers a big lift in the second, knocking down three shots from behind the 3-point line.

Westview began chipping away at the Tiger lead in the third quarter, closing to within 57-45 as the fourth quarter got underway.

Westview kept charging back at the Tigers in the fourth quarter but Hopkinsville was able to turn back the rally and hold on for the four point win.

Layton Giltner led the way for Hopkinsville with 16 points and 15 rebounds. Jonathan Hart also had 16 points for the Tigers. James Bradley Jr. and Deavery Ramey added 14 points each. Freshman Jayon Bass added 7 points and 6 assists.

Hopkinsville (3-5) will take on Owensboro Catholic Friday in the Colonel Basketball Classic at Henderson County.
