After a rough end to their trip to the mountains before Christmas, the Hopkins County Central Lady Storm headed off to the cavelands the day after the ‘big day’ and found their mojo again. The Lady Storm used a big second quarter to grab control of the game and then finished it off with another big quarter in the third on their way to a 68-30 win over Ohio County in the Rafferty’s/Double Dogs Caveland Classic at Ohio County High School.
Hopkins County Central led the game 18-17 after the opening quarter. The Lady Storm defense then smothered the Lady Eagles in the second quarter, allowing them just 8 points as Hopkins County Central built a 38-25 halftime lead.
Kenzleigh Harrison had a big first half for the Lady Storm with 10 points.
Hopkins County Central tightened up the defense even more in the third quarter. Ohio County could manage just three points as the Lady Storm blew the game open, taking a 62-28 lead as the quarter ended.
Reserves saw most of the action for the Lady Storm over the final eight minutes as they cruised on out to the 38-point win.
Kenzleigh Harrison ended up with 17 points for Hopkins County Central. Addie Menser added 13 points while Calajia Mason also hit double figures with 12. Bri Dulin came off the bench to add six points for Hopkins County Central.
Ella Decker was the only Lady Eagle to hit double figures with 10 points. Celeste Jachimowicz added 8 points for Ohio County.
With the win, the Lady Storm put an end to their two-game losing skid and improve to 6-4. They are back in action Friday in the championship bracket semifinals against Marshall County, who ran by Todd County Central 66-24 Thursday.
