Marshall County Overwhelms Lady Rebels in Caveland Classic

The Marshall County Lady Marshals were not much in the giving spirit the day after Christmas Thursday. Marshall County knocked down five 3-pointers in the opening quarter on their way to a 25 point first quarter lead and never blinked en route to a 66-24 win over the Todd County Central Lady Rebels in the opening round of the Rafferty’s/Double Dogs Caveland Classic at Edmonson County High School.

Eden Sandlin and Skylar Waller combined to score 19 points in the first quarter as the Lady Marshals took a 30-5 lead. That lead grew to 48-12 at the half.

With the running clock in play at the beginning of the second half, the final 16 minutes of the game played out quickly.

Marshall County led 57-16 at the end of the third and then rode it on out to the final 42 point margin.

Alexis Taylor was the Lady Rebels’ leading scorer with 12 points. Jordyn Shemwell added 6 points. JaMya Kay and Chloe Collins finished with 3 points each.

Eden Sandlin led Marshall County with 17 points. Skylar Waller and Addi Wall scored 12 points each.

Todd County Central falls to 5-5 with the loss. The Lady Rebels are back in action Friday against Ohio County in the consolation bracket semifinals.
