With the start of conference play less than a week away, former Lyon County standout Brady Shoulders has given the Mercer Bears indication that he can be a solid contributor as a freshman.

Heading into the weekend, Shoulders has seen action in all 12 games for the Bears and has been in the starting lineup for the past eight games.

Through December 21, Shoulders is averaging 5.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. His top scoring performance has been 14 points against Miami of Ohio. He added four steals to his total in that contest. Shoulders also hit double figures with 13 in a game against Jacksonville.

Shoulders has been especially strong on the boards as of late, pulling down double-figure rebounds in three of his last four games, with a high of 12 rebounds against Chicago State.

Shoulders and the Bears play Georgia State in Atlanta Saturday before opening conference play on New Year’s Day at Chattanooga.
