A strong finish Friday for the Hopkins County Central Storm. Sylas Gunn scored 9 of his 20 points in the final quarter as the Storm picked up a 71-63 win over Henry County in holiday hoops action at Stewart County.
Behind the outside shooting of Davonyae Butcher, Hopkins County Central took a 19-14 lead after the opening quarter. Butcher buried three shots from behind the arc in the first eight minutes.
Henry County battled back in the second to tie the game at 34-34 at the break.
The two teams continued to battle toe-to-toe in the third with the Storm taking a tenuous 52-51 lead into the final quarter.
The Central defense limited Henry County to four field goals in the fourth quarter as the Storm fought their way to the eight-point win.
In addition to Sylas Gunn’s 20 points, Hopkins County Central also got 20 points from Davonyae Butcher. Lake Sumner added 13 points and Cohl Hoard finished with 12.
Henry County was paced by Jamar Foster with 14. Carson Cord and Tristan Gagic added 13 points each./
Hopkins County Central improves to 5-4 with the win, which was the second straight for the Storm.
