A cold shooting first half was too much for the Christian County Colonels to overcome Saturday night. The Colonels put up 14 points in the first half and went on to fall to Simon Kenton 68-37 in Christian County’s opening game of the Central Bank Jim Rose Classic.
The Colonels hit just 5 of 13 shots and turned the ball over 17 times in the first two quarters as the Pioneers built a big lead.
Christian County shot much better in the second half, knocking down 50 percent from the field, but 26 total turnovers, including 9 in the second half, simply did not allow the Colonels to get many shot attempts up for the game, going 14 of 31 from the field for the night.
Christian County was led by Kam Williams with 15 points and 6 rebounds. Jay Henderson came off the bench to add 6 points. Josh Bridges finished with 5 points.
The loss drops the Colonels to 0-10 on the season. They will be back in action at the Jim Rose Classic Saturday afternoon.
