A scoreless second half undermined the Heritage Christian Academy Lady Warriors’ hopes for their first win of the season. After being shut out in the first quarter, the Cloverport Lady Aces came back to take control of the game in the second quarter Saturday afternoon and rolled past the Lady Warriors 34-8.

HCA limited the Lady Aces to a single free throw in the opening quarter, with that free throw coming in the final ten seconds of the quarter as the Lady Warriors took a 4-1 lead after one.

The Lady Aces however found their offensive stride in the second quarter and came storming back to take a 17-8 lead at the break.

Coming out of the break, the basket had a lid on it at the Lady Warriors’ end of the court as they did not score over the final 16 minutes of the game. Cloverport led 24-8 after the third quarter and then continued to pull away for the 26-point win.

Heritage Christian got 4 points and 18 rebounds from Ava DeJager. Lexi Lyon and Lauren Loftus added two points each for the Lady Warriors.

Cloverport was led by Campbell Moore with 20 points, including five made 3-pointers.

Heritage Christian (0-6) is now off until January 6 when the Lady Warriors go on the road to Community Christian.
