Lady Wildcats Drop Three at Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic

The Trigg County Lady Wildcats dropped its three games this weekend at the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic.

They lost the opener to the host Lady Tigers 55-32 and dropped the second game of Friday’s first day to Union County 62-38.

Against Murray, the Lady Wildcats had no answer for sophomore Kaydence Kindle who scored 28 points on 10 of 16 shooting from the field and hit 8 of 11 free throws. Kindle is averaging 20 points a game for the Lady Tigers after missing all of last year with a leg injury.

Seventh grader Josie Haynes joined Kindle in double figures with 13 points.

Trigg County got another solid effort from sophomore Veyda Grinols who scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

Trigg was doomed by another slow start as they fell behind 16-2 in the first quarter and trailed 24-8 at halftime.

Alivia Norwood and Cali Jones each had five points for the Lady Wildcats.

Against Union County, the Lady Wildcats trailed 37-18 at halftime and wilted under the Bravettes’ pressure as they were outscored 21-3 in the third quarter.

For the game, Trigg County had 28 turnovers.

Grinols again led the Lady Wildcats in scoring with 17 points and eight rebounds. Gabbi McGee came off the bench to score six points and AJ Navarro scored five.

Union County was led by Paige Steward who scored 23 points, including 10 in the second quarter. Bri Bell and Miley Mendoza each scored 10 for the Bravettes (7-3).

On Saturday, Trigg County fell to Butler County 50-19 in their final game of the Murray Bank Lady Tiger Classic.

Trigg was held without a field goal in the first quarter as they fell behind 12-1. The Lady Wildcats finished the game with just four field goals and were 10 of 18 at the free throw line.

Reese Bush led the Lady Wildcats with eight points, and Alivia Norwood added four.

Ava Wilson’s 12 points led Butler County (6-4).

Trigg County returns to action on Thursday at Community Christian.
