
South Panola’s girls put the defensive clamps on Mayfield as the Lady Tigers earned a 60-16 victory Saturday in the West Kentucky Hoops Classic at Caldwell County.
The Lady Tigers (12-4) from Mississippi led 17-3 after one quarter and 31-5 at halftime.
At one point, South Panola had a 38-3 run in what was a dominating performance as the Lady Tigers finished 2-0 in the Hoops Classic.
Meanwhile, the Lady Cardinals (8-2) settle for a 1-1 showing in the event.
Mayfield could never get on track offensively, making just 5 of 41 field goal attempts.
South Panola outrebounded the Lady Cardinals 58-24.
Shania Fondren led the Lady Tigers with 23 points and 16 rebounds. Kamiya Hentz had 10 points while Madison Haynie had 13 boards to go with six points.
Lay Mayes led Mayfield with five points.
