Storm Rumbles Past Stewart County for 3rd Straight Win

The Hopkins County Central Storm started fast and did not look back Monday evening as they wrapped up their holiday hoops with a 78-60 win at Stewart County. The win was the third straight for the Storm as they completed the holiday period going 3-1.

Led by the play of Sylas Gunn, the Storm took a 15-4 lead after the opening quarter. The Hopkins Central defense gave up just two field goals over the first eight minutes.

Stewart County got its offense on track in the second quarter but could not slow down the Storm. Hopkins County Central went into the break holding a 37-22 lead.

Lake Sumner helped keep the Storm rolling along as the second half got underway. At the end of three, Hopkins County Central was up 58-41.

Stewart County never made a serious charge at the Storm the rest of the way as they held on for the 18-point win.

Sylas Gunn was Hopkins County Central’s leading scorer with 14 points. Blaze Sumner added 13 points. Devante Jagoe was in double figures with 10, while Lake Sumner just missed with 9 points.

Stewart County was led by Brayden Threatt with 14 points. Jacob Morgan added 13 points.

Hopkins County Central improves to 6-4 and will be back in action next Monday when the Storm hosts Union County.
