Offensive struggles continue to plague the Todd County Central Rebels. The Rebels were held to under 40 points for the 5th time in the last six games Friday night as they fell at Jo Byrns 43-37.
The loss was the sixth straight for Todd County Central since their December 20 win over Fort Campbell.
Both teams struggled offensively from the start of the night with neither scoring until midway through the opening quarter. Todd County Central and Jo Byrns had two field goals each in the opening quarter. The difference was the Rebels’ baskets were a pair of John Ross Cardwell 3-pointers as the Rebels led 6-4 after one.
The Red Devils used big quarters from Adam Cox and Bryson Douglas in the second to come battling back to take a 20-16 lead at the break.
Todd County Central came out in the third and cut the lead in half. The Rebels went into the fourth quarter trailing only 29-27.
The Red Devils were able to hold off Todd Central over the final eight minutes despite shooting just 2 of 9 at the free throw line in the final quarter.
Todd County Central got 16 points from John Ross Cardwell. Connor Holder added 7 and Tay Shemwell finished with 6.
The Rebels have now been held to fewer than 40 points in 8 games for the year.
Todd County Central (1-12) gets right back to action Saturday evening when the Rebels host Ballard Memorial.
