The Madisonville-North Hopkins Maroons put the brakes on a five-game skid on Friday with a 63-48 win over visiting Webster County behind 30 points from Kanyon Johnson.
The Maroons improved to 8-5 ahead of a visit from 7th-District foes Dawson Springs on January 14.
Ryan Bryant scored six in the first quarter and Trashaun Smith and Payton Smith combined for 10 to give the Maroons an early six-point edge.
Johnson took over the scoring load from there, dropping 18 points in the second to help Madisonville open up a 36-26 halftime advantage.
Micah Austin and Trace Hardison each scored five in the third and the Trojans outscored the Maroons 14-13, but Johnson tacked on eight points in the fourth and Madisonville held Webster to only eight in the frame to win by 15.
Bryant joined Johnson in double digits with 12 for the Maroons, and Payton Smith added 10.
Austin led the Trojans with 19, followed by Hardison with 14.
