
The streaking Lyon County girls’ basketball team earned its ninth straight victory to improve to 10-1 with a 53-44 win over visiting Muhlenberg County on Friday.
Trinity Taylor got started on a double-double performance with 10 points in the opening quarter.
Piper Cotham and Courtney Collins combined for 14 in the second quarter to send the Lady Lyons to a 10-point lead at the halftime break.
Collins and Taylor teamed up for nine of Lyon County’s 10 points in the third, and the Lady Lyons led 44-32 with a quarter to play.
Taylor Wilkins finished with 14 points for Muhlenberg, including eight in the second half, but Lyon County held on to make it three in a row over the Lady Mustangs.
Taylor finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead Lyon County. Collins added 14 points, and Cotham scored 13.
