Another game where the Lyon County Lyons were in it right down to the end and saw it slip away late. Louisville Ballard handed the Lyons their 4th straight loss with an 83-76 decision in Jefferson County Saturday evening.
The game was close throughout. The Bruins led 16-14 after the first quarter and nudged that lead out to 39-36 at the half.
Three-point shooting was the difference in the first half as Ballard knocked down seven shots from behind the arc to just two for the Lyons, both of those coming from Nolan Coffman.
With Bray Kirk scoring 13 in the third quarter, the Lyons stayed right with the Bruins. Ballard’s lead was still three points at 60-57 as the final quarter got underway.
The Bruins used three-point shooting to help fend off any Lyon County comeback as Ballard pulled out to the seven-point win.
Bray Kirk scored 32 points in leading Lyon County. Nolan Coffman finished with 16 points while Cooper Collins added 14.
Blake Russell led four Bruins in double figures with 18 points. Baron Clay was right behind him with 17 points. Sam Frazier chipped in with 16.
Ballard finished the game with 12 three-pointers. The Lyons made four shots from behind the 3-point line.
Lyon County falls to 5-4 with the loss. They are scheduled to go to Crittenden County Tuesday night for a first round game in the 2nd Region All A Classic.
