The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers got off to a bit of a slow start in their first game of 2025 and could not recover. Grayson County held the Lady Tigers to a single field goal in the opening quarter of the game and went on to take a 61-49 win Saturday afternoon in Leitchfield.
Lee Lee Love scored the only field goal in the first eight minutes of the game for Hopkinsville as the Lady Cougars jumped out to a 21-6 lead after one. Love and TaRia Sharber had two free throws each for the other Hopkinsville points in the quarter.
Hoptown’s defense held Grayson County to a made three-pointer and two free throws in the second as the Lady Tigers were able to trim the lead to 26-16 at the half.
The two teams played almost dead even in the second half of play. Grayson County led 47-34 after the third. Hopkinsville then outscored the Lady Cougars by two points in the final quarter.
Lee Lee Love had 14 points to lead the Lady Tigers. Lashanti Wilson finished with 11 points. TaRia Sharber also reached double figures with 10 and had 15 rebounds.
Freshman Breigh Jones led Grayson County with 27 points, including 15 of 16 from the free throw line. Sutten VanMeter hit four threes and scored 18 points for the Lady Cougars.
Hopkinsville falls to 4-5 with the loss. The Lady Tigers are set to be back in action Tuesday night at home against Graves County.
