The Caldwell County Lady Tiger wrestling team brought home the championship trophy from the Ohio Valley Duals at Owensboro Apollo on Saturday.
It is the first time in the program’s history that Caldwell’s girls have won the team title in a tournament.
Caldwell’s girls won four matches, defeating Apollo 48-18 and beating South Warren 60-12.
The Lady Tigers tied both Henderson County and Union County 36-36, but Caldwell won both of those matches on criteria to win the event.
Against Apollo, Jessie Jenkins at 132 pounds, Lexie Gobin at 138 and Kamyra Dickey at 114 each won matches by pin. Apollo forfeited five weight classes.
Caldwell won four matches by pin against Henderson — Gobin at 138, Keirli Herran at 145, Sophie Parrish at 100 and Aniyaree Wilson at 126. Caldwell won the match because of two Henderson forfeits.
The Lady Tigers had three pins against South Warren. Emilee Klidzejs won by pin at 120, Wilson at 126 and Parrish at 100. South Warren forfeited seven matches.
Caldwell had just one pin against Union — Gobin at 138 — but won because of five forfeits by the Bravettes.
This Saturday, the Lady Tigers will travel to George Rogers Clark High School in Winchester for the Lady Cardinal Invitational.
