The Crittenden County Lady Rockets come in as the two-time defending champs while the Lyon County Lady Lyons come in as the hottest team in the region for this week’s 2nd Region All A Classic tournament. Girls action was originally set to start Monday but has been moved back due to the wintry weather that hit the area over the weekend.
The question going into the tournament is can anything prevent a Crittenden County-Lyon County matchup in the title game Saturday.
Lyon County has won 9 in a row and included in that run is a 75-44 win over Crittenden County two days before Christmas.
The Lady Rockets, who have won the last two regional titles and three of the last four, enter the week at 9-3 and have a 25-point win over Caldwell County in the season opener.
Speaking of the Lady Tigers, they appear to be the team best positioned to have any kind of chance to prevent a collision between the Lady Rockets and the Lady Lyons in the finals, as they come into the tournament at 5-5.
Livingston Central, who last won the All A regional title in 2016, heads into the tournament at 4-6, but has been handed big losses by both Lyon County and Crittenden County.
Heritage Christian, Dawson Springs, and Fort Campbell will be hoping one of the others has a serious letdown at some point during the week.
Crittenden County will host Livingston Central Tuesday night at 6pm. Dawson Springs host Lyon County Tuesday night at 6pm. Fort Campbell will host Caldwell County Wednesday night at 5:30. With UHA not having a girls team, Heritage Christian advances to the semifinals and awaits the winner of Crittenden County and Livingston Central.
The semifinals will be played Thursday night at Crittenden County High School with the championship game set for Saturday afternoon at 4pm at Crittenden County.
