Caldwell Cruises Into All A Semifinals To Face Dawson Springs

Caldwell County scored the final 13 points of the first half and outscored Fort Campbell 26-13 in the third quarter on its way to a 76-27 win over the Falcons in the quarterfinals of the 2nd Region All A Classic Tournament on Wednesday.

Cade Rowland knocked down three 3-pointers in the second quarter and Collin Whittington and Daylen Lander each had a triple as the Tigers pushed a 20-14 lead to a 33-14 advantage at halftime.

Caldwell would score the first six points of the second half until Jamille Wilson ended the run with a bucket for the Falcons. Wilson scored all seven of his points in the third quarter.

Whittington scored eight points in the third quarter and finished with a team-high 18 points. He also dished out five assists.

JayDarius Wilson notched a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds. Roland finished with 9 points and Jack Roach came off the bench to add eight.

Fort Campbell got 14 points from Tyreek Anthony who came into the game averaging 22 points a game. The Falcons shot just 21% from the field while Caldwell County hit 9 of 24 behind the arc and out-rebounded Fort Campbell 44-24.

The win was Caldwell County’s eighth straight in the series with Fort Campbell’s last win over the Tigers coming in 2008.

Caldwell County’s quest for its first-ever All A Region title continues on Thursday when they will play Dawson Springs on the Panthers’ home court at 7:30. Dawson Springs took care of Livingston Central 76-49 in the other quarterfinal on Wednesday.

Thursday night’s first semifinal matchup has University Heights Academy playing defending All A Region champ Lyon County, at 6 o’clock.
