The Hopkinsville Tigers had a great deal of ‘Hart’ Monday night. Specifically, a great deal of senior Jonathan Hart. Hart singed the nets for 26 points as the Hopkinsville Tigers rebounded from last week’s loss to Christian County with a 79-59 homecourt win over Todd County Central.
The Tigers got big first quarters from Hart and Jonovan Leavell to take a 22-13 lead after one. Leavell and Hart combined to score 18 points in the first eight minutes.
Behind the outside shooting of Tay Shemwell, the Rebels battled back in the second quarter to trim the margin to 34-29 at the half.
With Hart, Leavell, and James Bradley Jr. leading the way in the third quarter, the Tigers pushed the lead out to 58-48 going into the final eight minutes.
Hart then slammed the door on any comeback hopes for the Rebels by knocking down four 3-pointers in the final quarter.
As a part of his 26 points, Hart hit 8 three-pointers. Jonovan Leavell hit 5 threes and ended up with 21 points. James Bradley Jr. was also in double figures with 16.
Brett Harris, Devin Schutt, and Tay Shemwell all had 10 points for the Rebels. John Ross Cardwell just missed out on double figures with 9 points.
Todd County Central (1-15) is back in action Tuesday night against Greenwood.
Hopkinsville (5-10) heads across town Thursday night to take on University Heights.
